Arrived at the lake around 7 pm and was pleasantly surprised to find the lake empty. There was high pressure, some cloud and a strong north-easterly wind blowing. I went into swim 4.
I had been away from the lake for a couple of weeks, and some leading up revealed fresh weed growth around the six wrap mark inwards to the bank.
I fished the left-hand rod about one and a half wraps off the reed bed to my left. The other two rods went out at 12 and 9 wraps. A kilo of Boilies was spread between the 3 rods. All three rods were fished with bottom baits and one bait stringer.
A couple of fish were spotted during the trip, one in front of 6 and another off the reeds, not far from where I was fishing. I also heard one in the night down to the right.
Another angler who arrived informed me the lake hadn’t been fishing well this spring, and only three fish were out recently. We put it down to the consistently high pressure and N, NE & E winds this spring.
Nothing occurred; another blank packed up around 10 am. I was, however, pleased to see all my bottom bait rigs relatively clean on the reel in. Only one had a small piece of silkweed on it. I always prefer to use bottom baits if possible (it seems everyone uses some form of pop-up these days), and bottom baits are possible in this swim on those spots.
