Arrived at the lake at 8 pm, two anglers on in swims 1 and 9. There had been good weather in both Westerly winds for the day, with gusts up to 38mph, and the wind had eased off for the evening. I went in swim 4.
Dark was fast approaching. I put the left-hand Rod on the needed up to my right in a few feet of water, and the middle Rod further along the bank, further off the reeds in what felt like deeper water, both had ok drops. I put 15 baits out around each Rod.
I had a quick lead with my right-hand Rod and found a smooth, clear area out in front at around 12 wraps. I liked the feel of the bottom, so I put a rig on it. I put 25 baits around this Rod. The rods were fished with the usual hinge-stiff rigs.
At around 2.15 am, I was awoken by a single beep. I got up, there was another beep, it was the right-hand Rod cast to the smooth area the bobbin had lifted, and the line had been pulled out of the clip I struck into my first fish from the lake.
After a short fight, a 34lb 14oz mirror was in the net. A nice, sparsely scaled mirror with a small head.

After the photos were sorted and the fish released, I got the Rod back out. Nothing else happened for the rest of the session, and packed up at 9 am.
