Managed to get down to the new lake at lunchtime for session two. Arrived at lunchtime, four on in swims 1,3,7, and 10, so went in 5. The weather was easterly in the swim, with wind blowing into my bank and lovely warm sunshine, 19. degrees today.
First thing, I launched an adjustable zig with a cork ball popup about 11-12 wraps out and set 2ft below. The surface. Had a lead about finding a nice hard area down to my left in around 6ft of water. Dragged a baited rig across it and bought in a little silkweed. It’s everywhere in this place, so put on a hinged, stiff rig and put on the spot with 7-8 baits around it.
The bank to my right is reedlined the full length, and I found a nice hard patch off the reeds in about 5ft of water, so I put a hinge stiff rig onĀ it with 10 or so baits around it.
Before dark, I redone the zig rod cast at 12 wraps and set it 3.5ft below the surface. Didn’t see or hear anything all day.
At 1.40am, I heard a fish come out twice down to my right, probably on the reeds, then a minute or so later twice again. It was too big to be a small bird and didn’t have the flappy wing sound of a goose; it sounded like a fish, and they must be in the zone.
Nothing happened, and I packed up at 9 am.
