Arrived at 8ish, just as it was getting dark, and no one else was on. There was a howling easterly wind pushing into swim 5. I didn’t want to be on the end of that, and I bet the fish didn’t either, so I set up opposite in swim 4.
Had a quick lead about along the reed-lined bank, which seemed pretty solid, probably about 5-6ft of water. I didn’t have time to get the marker rod out, so I put two rods with hinge stiff links, one down to my left and the other about halfway along the reed bank. Each rod had 15-20 baits spread around it. The third rod was placed in the middle on a zig 3 ft down with a piece of black foam.
I was well exposed to the cold easterly wind, quickly got the temperature up, zipped the door down (window open), and got in the bag. I woke at about 8 am, sunny, a bit of cloud, strong easterly, and nothing occurred throughout the night. Popped the zig up by 1ft so it was sitting 2ft under the water, made a coffee and started packing up at 9 am.
