I arrived at the lake at 7 pm, and there was another angler in 4. There was an ENE wind blowing into number 5. It looked and felt quite good over there, so I dropped in.
I put one rod on the hard spot I found in my previous session. Took about three casts at the spot to hit the hard patch. There’s blanket weed everywhere, it seems on here. I feel it’s good to have a few chucks on each spot until you hit the hardest bit. I feel the hinge stiff rigs will handle the silkweed, but being clogged with the stuff isn’t great for the rig mechanics.
I have recently been using the rig loops from Avid. These are a swivel with a large metal loop far superior for a hinge stiff rig than making a loop out of the boom material, harder to clog up with silkweed, and you don’t have to keep rounding them either.
I had a quick lead about further out and found a hard spot in the middle zone,, so I put the middle rod on there. The right-hand rod went off the reeds. All rods had 2-inch stiff hinge rigs with pop-ups and about 15 baits around each.
Around 10 pm, I heard a fish come out of the reeds not far from where I was fishing. This is the second time I have heard of fish in that zone. It was quite mild and pleasant all night, which makes a change from recent nights. Nothing happened; another blank packed up at 9 am.
